1st) With the first overall pick, the Lions will choose MATTHEW STAFFORD, QB, GEORGIA. Stafford has already agreed to a 4 year, $41.7 million dollar deal (in guarantees) and could be worth as much as 6 year/$78 million dollars.
With our first pick easily being right, lets see if we get our second pick right with the St. Louis Rams selecting Jason Smith, OT, Baylor. Also keep an eye on Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia.
2nd) With the second pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select JASON SMITH, OT, BAYLOR. With the void Orlando Pace left by being released it is a perfect fit for the Rams.
So pick number two in our Mock Draft is right, but now with Kansas city on the clock it is our first pick which could go wrong. We have Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest going. Also look for Tyson Jackson to go at this spot if it isn’t Aaron Curry.
3rd) With the third pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select, TYSON JACKSON, DE, LSU. With their only pick in the first two rounds the Kansas City Chiefs take the DE. Scott Pioli may be trying to recreate drafting Richard Seymour when he was in New England.
With our third pick being wrong look for the Seattle Seahawks to select Aaron Curry, instead of Sanchez with this pick.
4th) With the fourth pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select AARON CURRY, OLB, WAKE FOREST. This pick to combine with Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill this is an elite line backing core.
Even though our last two picks have been wrong, I can still see Brian Orakpo going to the Cleveland Browns. Also keep an eye on Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech. Or even a team trying to trade up and get Matt Sanchez.
TRADE The Jets are now on the clock. Look for them to take Matt Sanchez, or maybe Michael Crabtree. My money is on Matt Sanchez.
5th) With the fifth pick of the NFL Draft the New York Jets select MARK SANCHEZ, QB USC. With Kellen Clemons as the starter an upgrade was in dire need. Good pick.
Details of the trade the Browns get DE Kenyon Coleman,S Abram Elam, QB Brett Ratliff, and the 17th and 57th overall pick in this years draft.
So now the Bengals are on the Clock. According to our mock draft look for Andre Smith, OT , Alabama to be the pick. Also look at Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia.
6th) With the sixth pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select ANDRE SMITH, OT ALABAMA. They need him to keep Carson Palmer healthy and help support the running game.
With the Oakland Raiders on the clock look for Michael Crabtree to go here. If it isn’t him the Raiders could take the Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri, because Al Davis Covets speed and this kid has speed. Also Eugene Monroe could fit here too. But I see them taking Crabtree.
7th) With the seventh pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Oakland Raiders select DARRIUS HEYWARD-BEY, WR, MARYLAND. Like I said Al Davis covets speed and Darrius Heyward-Bey was the fastest person at the combine not to mention his size at 6′1 and 5/8ths. Typical Al Davis move.
Jacksonville is now in a prime position to trade down a bit because teams are going to want to trade up and grab Crabtree. They could stay put and take Crabtree, or take the OT Eugene Monroe. But also BJ Raji is a very good prospect at this point for Jacksonville. Keep an eye on Raji.
8th) With the eight pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select, EUGENE MONROE, OT, VIRGINIA. They need to keep David Garrard on his feet, and also they need to protect their small running back Maurice Jones-Drew.
The Green Bay Packers are on the clock and I think it is time that Bj Raji goes. But I do really like Malcolm Jenkins going here. Or even Brian Orakpo.
9th) With the ninth pick of the NFL DRAFT the Green Bay Packers Select, BJ RAJI, DT, BOSTON COLLEGE . Green Bay needs to sure up their nose tackle and Raji is the best DT in this years draft.
With San Francisco on the clock I could see Michael Crabtree going here. But with Mike Singletary as the new head coach they could go defense here and take Brian Orakpo. Or even the next best OT Michael Oher. And the dark horse could be Josh Freeman the third best QB coming out in this years draft.
10th) With the tenth pick of the 2009 NFL DRAFT the San Francisco 49′ers select MICHAEL CRABTREE, WR, TEXAS TECH. The best WR in this years draft falls down to them at 10. Easy decision for the new 49′ers.
Buffalo is now on the clock and they really need to take the next OT. Michael Oher, but since Brian Orakpo has fallen this far, they could take him as well, lets see what happens.
11th) With the 11th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select, AARON MAYBIN, DE, PENN STATE. Aaron Maybin has great upside and I think it is a great pick for Buffalo. He is either a boom or bust type of player, but I like him here.
Denver is now on clock and in our mock we have them taking Tyson Jackson who went 3rd overall. So again I think Orakpo could go here because Denver really needs to rebuild their defense. Or maybe its time for one of the USC linebackers to go.
12th) With the 12th pick of the NFL Draft the Denver Broncos take KNOWSHAWN MORENO, RB, GEORGIA. I really don’t understand this pick, their defense has a lot of needs. But I guess he is their guy and they did get a good football player.
13th)With the 13th pick of the NFL Draft the Washington Redskins select BRIAN ORAPKO, DE, TEXAS. He fell a long way into their laps and he is a great fit for Washington. They can move him around from DE or to OLB.
With New Orleans on the Clock it is time that Malcolm Jenkins to come off the board he really fits the team and it is a great value. The saits could also take Chris “Beanie” Wells, or maybe Brian Cushing, LB, USC. I think it will be the CB in the end.
14th) With the 14th pick of the NFL Draft the New Orleans Saints select, MALCOLM JENKINS, DB, OHIO STATE. He is the DB they have been looking for, he can play CB or FS. This is a great value pick for them.
Houston Texans need another linebacker to go along side DeMeco Ryans. Look for Clay Mathews or Brian Cushing to go here to the Texans. They also could go for a running back in Chris “Beanie” Wells.
15th) With the 15th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Houston Texas select BRIAN CUSHING, LB, USC. Since they drafted Mario Williams they have been trying to make this an amazing defense to stop the Colts potent offense. This is a solid choice.
At 16 the San Diego Chargers are in a prime postion to grab the next best WR to pair with Vincent Jackson. The two guys that jump out are Jeremy Maclin and Percy Harvin. Also Look for Beanie Wells to potentially go off the board. The dark horse could be someone to compliment Shaun Merriman like USC linebackers Rey Maualuga or Clay Matthews.
16th) With the 16th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the San Diego Chargers select LARRY ENGLISH, DE/OLB, NORTHERN ILLINOIS. English is a good prospect and fits the Chargers scheme really well. This is their guy and they believe in him and that is why they took him so high.
The Browns are now on the clock at 17th where they traded down to from number 5. They are in a position to upgrade their defense with one of the USC linebackers, also if Braylon Edwards is on the trading block they could go wide receiver so look at Jeremy Maclin, and Percy Harvin. I could see them taking Beanie Wells here too, but defense is a huge need.
The Browns trade down again! Tampa Bay is now on the clock. Look for Tampa to snatch up Josh Freeman or the next WR Jeremy Maclin, or Percy Harvin, also I could see some defensive players being in the mix, Rey Maualuga, or the CB Vontae Davis.
17th) With the 17th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Bucs select, JOSH FREEMAN, QB, KANSAS STATE. Gruden is out but they still collect quarterbacks. Freeman isn’t ready to play right now but they have Leftwich to start, and Freeman can sit and learn for a year and then step in and be the franchise guy.
Denver Broncos are on the clock and I think they will select Robert Ayers. Keep an eye on Everette Brown.
18th) With the 18th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos select, ROBERT AYERS, DE, TENNESSEE. Extremely versatile player, and one of my favorite players in this draft. Denver gets a steal at 18.
Now Cleveland is again on the clock will they try and trade down again? They have to pick sometime. Again look at what I said before so maybe they get the WR they want at a cheaper price.
TRADE Cleveland trades down two more spots and the Eagles are now on the clock. Look at the TE Brandon Pettigrew, or maybe the running back Beanie Wells.
19th) With the 19th pick the Philadelphia Eagles select, JEREMY MACLIN, WR, MISSOURI. Donovan McNabb has a new toy. This is something he wanted, and when he was benched last season the Eagles are trying to make it up to him now. Good pick, because the Eagles have another playmaker.
20th) With the 20th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Detroit Lions select, BRANDON PETTIGREW, TE, OKLAHOMA STATE. They needed an OT, Michael Oher is who I thought they would take, but they pair the best TE with the best QB, so it is a good pick for them to help give Stafford a security blanket.
Cleveland is back on the clock. Who knows what they are going to do…
21st) With the 21st pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns select, ALEX MACK, C, CALIFORNIA. They need to beef up their offensive line so they get Mack the center who is versatile and can play any position on the line.
Minnesota is now on the clock look for the play maker Percy Harvin to go off the board here. Maybe Michael Oher.
22nd) With the 22nd pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Minnesota Vikings select, PERCY HARVIN, WR, FLORIDA. They needed a playmaker and they could line him up beside Peterson in the wildcat… That would be scary!
New England is now on the clock and if they don’t pick Rey Maualuga, I will be very very surprised. He is their kind of player and to go along side Jerod Mayo that would be a scary young combination. Also don’t be surprised to hear a cornerback called, maybe Darrius Butler, or Vontae Davis.
TRADE Baltimore moved up, look for a linebacker Rey Maualuga or maybe a WR. Also maybe Michael Oher. Let’s see
23rd) With the 23rd overall selection of the 2009 NFL DRAFT, the Baltimore Ravens select, MICHAEL OHER, OT, OLE MISS. Michael Oher is a great prospect that has fallen further then he should have. But this pick helps sure up their line and they can keep Joe Flacco on his feet.
Atlanta is on the clock and they need to go Defense. Look at Peria Jerry or Evander “Ziggy” Hood, LB’s Rey Maualuga, Clay Mathews, or DE Everett Brown could come into play here.
24th) With the 24th overall pick the Atlanta Falcons select, PERIA JERRY, DT, OLE MISS. Atlanta needs defense and where better to start then up front with a DT. This is a good building move.
Miami is on the clock and they could go a number of ways. The Tuna is a defensive guy so look for Rey Maualuga, Clay Mathews, Vontae Davis, or Darius Butler. If they go offense Beanie Wells is on the board and that could give Miami a great 1, 2 punch or look at the WR on the board with Hakim Nicks, or Kenny Britt.
25th) With the 25th overall pick the Miami Dolphins select, VONTAE DAVIS, CB, ILLINOIS. Miami needs a corner and Davis is one of the best in the draft he just has a lot of off the field issues. Bill Parcels doesn’t mind character guys, hopefully south beach doesn’t get to Davis.
New England is back on the clock and the players I mentioned earlier are still on the board. Lets see what they do.
TRADE New England trade the 26th Pick to the Green Bay Packers.
26th) With the 26th pick in the 2009 NFL DRAFT the Green Bay Packers select, CLAY MATTHEWS, LB, USC. Green Bay is transitioning to the 3-4 so they need players to fit that scheme and Matthews is an extremely athletic player.
Finally the Indianapolis Colts are on the clock, the Colts are my team so I am excited to see what they do. The four players I would like to see go here in order of preference is 1) RB Beanie Wells, to give them a 1, 2 punch. 2) WR Brian Robiskie, 3) DT Evander “Ziggy” Hood, 4) LB James Laurinaitis
27th) With the 27th overall pick in the NFL Draft the Indianapolis Colts select DONALD BROWN, RB, CONNECTICUT. Ok, I like this pick alot, Brown is a smart kid, and a good runner. I’ll take it. 1, 2 punch!!!
The Bills are on the clock, they need to go OT. Let’s see.
28th) With the 28th pick of the NFL DRAFT the Buffalo Bills select, ERICK WOOD, C, LOUISVILLE. They needed a tackle to fill a hole and they brought in a center. Wood can play ever position on the line, so we will see how it works out.
The Giants are on the clock and they need a WR. Let’s see if Hakim Nicks or Kenny Britt comes off the board.
29th) With the 29th overall pick the New York Giants select, HAKEEM NICKS, WR, NORTH CAROLINA. They lost Plaxico Burress, so he is his replacement.
The Tennessee Titans are now on the clock and according to our board Darius Butler will come off the board now. But they could also go WR, and take Brian Robiskie. Also Rey Maualuga, or James Laurinaitis. Also the last of the top 3 DT’s could go so look for Ziggy Hood.
30th) With the 30th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans select, KENNY BRITT, WR, RUTGERS. They need a playmaker at WR it is their biggest need, and they filled it with this pick. I say it is a good choice.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Arizona Cardinals take Chris “Beanie” Wells right here and right now. But if they were to go in a different direction they love Darius Butler out of Connecticut.
31st) With the 31st pick of the 2009 NFL Draft the Arizona Cardinals select, CHRIS “BEANIE” WELLS, RB, OHIO STATE. The Cardinals were awful running the ball last year, so now they have Wells to run the ball along with Hightower.
The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t need a lot, and in our mock we have them taking a corner lets see.
32nd) With the 32nd overall pick in the 2009 NFL DRAFT the Superbowl champions select, EVANDER “ZIGGY” HOOD, DT, MISSOURI. Great value to the already dominant Steelers team.
