C: I have to go with the Saints here. One part destiny + One part talent = Super Bowl Champions.

This will be a match-up to remember. To see two of the best quarterbacks to ever play matched up in the Super Bowl after masterful seasons will be a game to remember. Both teams match up well, so it will come down to who wants it more. Peabo keeps telling me that Freeny and Mathis will be the difference makers, but I’ll take Darren Sharper and Reggie Bush on special teams as the game breakers.

P: Two of the classiest teams in the NFL. Great cities… great franchises. The cream of the crop of the NFL. Very evenly matched teams, starting with two dominant quarterbacks, however I give Manning the edge in this game. Two underrated defenses as well. I think this game comes down to which defense makes the biggest plays and who has the ball last.  Look for Freeny and Mathis to come out hard like Demarcus Ware did when the Saint’s played Dallas. I believe the defensive line match-up for the Colts can wear down the slower offensive line of the Saints. Look for Brees to be knocked down a lot and lose his rhythm. Colts win. 31-28

K: The Colts won their conference championship in more impressive fashion, but if the Saints get away with what they did to Brett Favre, they should win this game. Who dat? Dey dat.

B: The Saints have an uncanny ability to throw down, and I have a feeling that the crowd will be on their side. I’m taking the Saints for the Superbowl.

R: Please New Orleans prove that you belong here. Keep it close. I am hoping for a win but Indy has all the experience.

J: Minus the turnovers, the Saints defense gave up over 400 yards of offense to the Vikings. You can bet your bottom dollar that Manning will not make any Favre-like mistakes Late in the game and will cash-in on trips to the red zone. The Saints are very talented and will no doubt score points and make it a game, but Manning will overcome and show why he may just be the best ever.

C: The Jets have to be the luckiest team in the NFL, the Chargers fell apart last week and all but handed the Jets the game. I don’t expect that from the Colts as the starters seek revenge for the Jets putting an end to their perfect season earlier this year. Even though I didn’t expect the Jets to beat the Chargers, I can’t imagine them beating the Colts.

P: The Jets are a good team and beat the Colts in the regular season even though most of the starters for the Colts didn’t play. The Jets Defense is spectacular but I don’t think they can hold the Colts down. Peyton Manning is the smartest quarterback to ever play. He will study the Jets, and he will get past them and make it to his 2nd Super Bowl.

K: The Jets’ run ends here. There’s no way a rookie out-does Peyton Manning.

B: With everything to lose, I heretoforth present my pick of the week. The Jets are a solid team, and they’re going to throw a lot at the Colts. The rushing attack is going to be present, and I expect to see some interesting wildcat plays thrown down. The Colts will again completely rely on their passing, and this will end up being their downfall. Yes, Peyton Manning is unbelievable. I don’t expect many sacks, as he gets the ball off amazingly fast. However, the Jets should be able to apply just enough pressure on him to try and draw out some turnovers. This is the best defense in the league, and this game will completely hinge on their ability to draw at least a few turnovers from the Colts offense. Crazy pick? Maybe. But as studly and majestic as Peyton Manning is, there’s room for an upset here, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

R: I would be alright if the Jets actually won the game but Indy will be motivated for this game, and I am sure Ryan will open his yup and say something stupid.

J: The now infamous Week 15 match up now gets a full 4 quarters of game play. The Jets defense is for real, holding a potent Chargers offense to just 14 points, but never underestimate mister 4-time MVP Peyton Manning.

C: These two teams have been on a collision course all season, and for one of them to have lost last week would have left a lot of disappointed fans, but after this game no one should be disappointed. Both teams are pretty even so the edge goes to New Orleans who will have home field advantage, and the Super Dome will be LOUD.

P: The Vikings defense can manhandle the saints O-line. I think the game comes down to that match-up. But it will be a close game.

K: Brett Favre’s mission isn’t complete just yet. Drew Brees and co. will be back next year.

B: If Bush continues hitting his marks, this is going to be a very intense game. The strength in the trenches are going to make it a battle to get runs up the middle, so if Bush is playing well, he’ll have plenty of opportunity to take some outside runs, which could be very dangerous for Minnesota. I simply think that the Vikings are hitting all the right marks right now, and they are one hell of a team.

R: Please, please, please do not have a Indy/ Minnesota Super Bowl. GO SAINTS.

J: I’ll be honest. With as bad as my picks were last week, I’m picking the Saints because part of me wants to see ole No. 4 back in the big dance. That being said, this game could really go either way. These are the top two offenses in the NFC going head to head. The Vikings D has an edge with consistency of play, but Darren Sharper will be on the prowl in the Saints secondary hawking any errant Favre passes.

C: Their last meeting was an excellent game, and the Ravens will be out for revenge. They are a better, and more confident team now than they were several weeks ago.

P: They said “unless Peyton can get the ball out fast?” That is a stupid statement. He gets the ball out faster then anyone in the league and I am pretty sure he has been sacked less then anyone else this season. He will get the ball out fast and he will dismantle the Ravens Defense.

K: Baltimore is better than people think, and they played the Colts last time. Upset special.

B: I picked them last week, and i’m just as confident. Although I don’t expect the Colts to go down like the Pats did. The Ravens D has done their homework for the playoffs, and unless Peyton can get the ball off incredibly fast, he should be hit with enough pressure to throw him off. I expect the Ravens D didn’t even feel the need to use all of their tricks last week, so the Colts should expect some fresh blitzing.

R: I hate both teams but someone has to win. Colts usually play the first round game like crap. The slide continues.

J: Though the Ravens are on a rampage, they will have to deal with possible MVP Peyton Manning. The Colts have come out flat after a break before, but they usually take care of business at home.

C: The Jets may have manhandled the Bengals, but they won’t be able to do that to the Chargers.

P: The Chargers are probably the most complete team in the NFL. I think they can beat the Jets, but it should be a good game.

K: The Jets are no match for the red-hot Chargers.

B: Well, I’m going to play spoiler once again because it’s a very comfortable role for me. Defense wins championships, and the Jets are probably the best team to hold off the Chargers. This is going to be a great game.

R: Open path to the Super Bowl for Rivers and the Chargers. Jets are no competition.

J: This team is just too talented and too hot for a streaky Jets team to handle. Phillip Rivers will continue to impress and they will run the ball just enough to keep the game out of the Jet’s reach.

C: I really, really want to pick the Saints, but Arizona hung 51 points on the best defense in the NFC, do the Saints really stand much of a chance?

P: I think this game comes down to wide receivers, and the Cardinals win in that category. No one can stop Larry Fitzgerald. But this game could be higher scoring then the Green Bay game.

K: New Orleans probably forgot how to win, and the Cardinals offense can’t be stopped.

B: I take the Cards in a potential shootout, especially if the Arizona D can show some of the moves that we had minor glimpses of against Green Bay. Could this game beat the record that was set a week before? Maybe!

R: Tough for Chris to pick against the Saints now. Chris you had faith early. I have learned to BELIEVE.

J: The Cardinals are riding high after an offensive explosion a week ago. This team seems to show up when needed and the Saints defense has been exposed in recent games. Look for Beanie Wells to show up.

C: The Vikings have something the Eagles didn’t, a running game, and that will be the difference in this game.

P: I hate the Cowboys.

K: Brett Favre didn’t come back to go one and done. The Cowboys got the monkey off their back, but the Vikes are better.

B: I might be digging myself a grave with these picks, but I’ve built myself up a nice cushion from last week. I’m seeing the Cowboys playing very well, and I’m thinking that this will be a fantastic game and a potential great end to Favre’s career.

R: Favre retire please. Boys hitting on all cylinders at right time.

J: Favre has traditionally had some problems with the Cowboys. Something about that star on their helmets or something. He’ll put up a few throws that will cost him and his team to swing momentum Dallas’ way despite the coveted “dome-field” advantage.

C: The Jets defense is better than the Bengals offense, and could outscore the Bengals offense given the opportunity.
K: Cincy isn’t very good, but neither are the Jets.
B: I still hold the Jets defense in high enough regard to take this game – remember, folks, Defense wins championships.
R: Cincy going home after being trashed by the Jets. Revenge will be on the menu, and oh yes, revenge is a dish better served cold.
J: The Bengals have been the most maligned team in the NFL when it comes to off-the-field tragedy, but as a team they have managed to perservere and rally when needed. Both teams have shown the ability to stop the run so this one could come down to quarterback play giving Cincy the edge it needs to advance.

C: The Patriots are 8-0 at home and the Ravens are 3-5 on the road. I have to go with the Patriots and the experience of Belichick and Brady, even with Welker hurt.
K: Can you really see the Patriots stopping Ray Rice and Willis McGahee? I can’t.
B: I’m going to go ahead and throw this one down to the Ravens. They’re playing well, and have an ability to win. And the Pats are hurting.
R: Brady gets a big slap in the head this week and remembers the early part of the century. Oh yeah, ball control, Pats control clock and win.
J: Both of these teams have reputations that proceed themselves, but this is not the same Patriots teams that went 16-0 nor is this the same Ravens defense that pulverized opposing teams week in and week out just a few years ago. Still, with Ed Reed back in the Baltimore secondary and Wes Welker out for the season, Brady may have trouble finding favorable matchups in the passing game. The tandem of Ray Rice and Willis McGahee for Baltimore will take the pressure off of Joe Flacco and wear down the Patriots defense.

C: Despite the game last week, the Eagles have been almost unstoppable. I don’t see a repeat performance from McNabb and the Eagles this week in Dallas.
K: The Cowboys are on a mission, and it’s not over until they win a playoff game.
B: Cowboys, playoffs, at home, against a team that they delivered a morale-smashing defeat to last week? Hmm…
R: The problem with the loss on Sunday is that the Eagles looked disinterested. Cowboys win in OT.
J: As hard as it may be to beat a division foe three times in a season, the fact that both teams were playing for something in week 17 and the Cowboys dominated in all phases does not bode well for Philly. Romo seems to have exorcised his December demons and will now focus on leading his team to the big dance. This one should be closer, but big D is rolling and will prevail over a stunned Eagles team.

C: I had originally chosen Arizona to win this game based on the fact that they didn’t play Warner, and struggled on offense, but the offense didn’t let Green Bay put up 33 points. Green Bay wins again.
K: Green Bay can’t go on the road and beat Arizona twice in two weeks. It just won’t happen.
B: I think Arizona is going to step it up this week, because last week was embarrassing.
R: Mr Rodgers neighborhood might be in Zona.
J: This game will certainly be a lot closer than the week 17 beatdown of last Sunday. Still, injuries to DRC and Anquan Boldin places question marks on two key Cardinals players. The Packers continue to play well and come in hot having won 7 of their last 8. It appears Charles Woodson will be near 100% and Aaron Rodgers has proven himself to be one of the elite passers in the league. In the end the Packers just have too many weapons on offense and defense for the Cardinals to overcome.

C: Even though the Colts will end up phoning this one in, their backups should be able to hold their own against the Bills.
P: The Colts lost last week to get the perfect season monkey out of the air. They learn from their mistakes several seasons back and don’t rest their starters that much, They need a win.
K: Even with their back-ups in, I don’t see the Colts losing to the Bills.
B: The Colts second team will be ready to rock this, and will want to send a message to Colts fans.
R: My high school team could beat the Bills.

Comments:

C: The Steelers MUST win this game… must, must, must, and even that doesn’t guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.
P: The Dolphins are hungry!
K: The Steelers need a lot of help to get in, but it all starts with a win.
B: Miami will come out guns blazing, but I think that the Steelers will rise the occasion – they always seem to.
R: Let it rip Ben… May be his last game…. Retirement is calling.

C: This game could be the best thing to happen to the Patriots. In order to keep the #3 seed in the playoffs the Pats have to win, and even though the Texans aren’t the guaranteed win they used to be they will put up a fight since they have to win to make it to the post season for the first time in their existence, all but guaranteeing that Brady, Moss, and the rest of the starters will see playing time late in the game.
P: Matt Schaub is H-O-T-T! Let’s knock down the Patriots boys!
K: New England will rest it’s starters as Houston still works at a playoff spot.
B: The Pats won’t be so quick to play Brady all game, with playoffs coming up. Even for a good seed.
R: Patriots still need to win a quality game on the road, does this qualify?

C: It’s time to put up or shut up. Saints have to get some momentum going in their favor, and the beating the scrappy Panthers will do just that.
P: The Panthers have looked so good the past couple of weeks. I think their running game is hard to beat.
K: The Saints won’t look so hot with three straight losses to end the regular season.
B: Moore is playing great football, and the Saints are starting to crack.
R: Saints need this game to save face.

P: They need to win to seal their destiny!
K: Minnesota is 7-0 at home and the Giants are listless. Favre and the offense will play a complete game.
B: The Vikings need to fight the slide they’re in, and the Giants are a perfect target.

B: I’m liking the Browns lately, and i’ll continue to like them as they continue to win.

B: This is the game of the week, and I think Dallas wants the division badly enough.

C: Irrelevant, but the Titans are the better team. Expect a heavy dose of Chris Johnson as he tries to smash a few rushing records.

K: To finish at .500 is simply amazing for a Titans team that started 0-6. Chris Johnson WILL top 2,000 rushing yards.
B: Chris Johnson has a mission, and so do the Titans.

C: A win and you’re in situation for Baltimore, but Oakland has played spoiler for several teams this year. Is Baltimore next?
P: Baltimore needs to win but Oakland has played some good football!
K: The Raiders have been playing spoiler all season, so why stop now?
B: While they have played Spoiler, I think the Ravens are strong enough to hold them off.
R: I cannot believe I am saying this but go Oakland… Shut those whiney Ravens fans up.

C: Irrelevant as both teams have locked up a playoff spot, but I don’t expect either team to roll over. This could be one of the best games of the week, with a rematch in the Wild Card Round. I’m going to take the Cards here.
P: Packers are a great team, look for Rodgers to put his team on his back and get a big win.
K: Both teams will go to their back-ups around half-time, and I like Leinart over Flynn.

K: The Chargers will start resting with the division wrapped up, so I like the Titans.

C: Not much of a contest.
K: The Saints could sit everyone and they should still win this game.
B: The Saints are licking their wounds after last week, but now they feel vulnerable. The starters won’t play much, because they need to be at 100% for the playoffs.

C: Even thought the Steelers played well last week, I have more faith in the Ravens at this point.
K: Steelers should be riding high after last week, and this win could mean a serious playoff push.
B: The Steelers will be feeling some momentum after last week, but I don’t expect a repeat performance.

C: Cincy gets another win to stay ahead of the Ravens.
K: Cincy has dropped two straight, so it’s time to get their 10th win of the season.
B: The Bengals are going to bounce back after an emotional loss.

C: The Patriots need one more win to clinch the division, and they can get get it at home against the Jags.
K: The Jaguars are likely out of the playoffs, and the Patriots need to wrap up the division.
B: The pressure is on the Pats at home, and they’ll respond well to it.

Comments:

C: I’ll take the team with one good banged up QB, over the team with two mediocre banged up QB’s.
K: Both teams have a lot of fight, but are out of the playoffs. I’ll take the more talented team.
B: I’ll go with the crowd on this one, as Atlanta is simply the better team.

C: After massacre against Washington, the Panthers don’t have much hope as the Gmen try to keep their postseason hopes alive.
K: This could be a dog fight, but the Giants need to keep winning. I’ll go with the red-hot Eli Manning.
B: The Giants will keep winning, and have to.

C: Not that it really matters, but I like Houston’s chances better than Miami’s.
K: The Dolphins aren’t dead yet, and they have a more balanced offense than Houston.
B: The Dolphins are certainly not out, and they should rise to the occasion after a close loss last week.

C: I doubt that Green Bay will lose this one at home to the pathetic Seahawks.
K: The Packers could be in for an upset here, but it’s unlikely they fall to Seattle, who has looked horrible.
B: I don’t think anybody can realistically pick the Seahawks anymore.

C: Mangini could be fighting for his new job under new team president, Mike Holmgren, but I think that Oakland’s defense will hold up better than Kansas City’s did last week.
K: Both teams are making strong improvements, but the Raiders have the stronger defense.
B: Brady Quinn is out, and I don’t think Cribbs can get two kickoff return TDs this week.

C: Even though the 49ers were a popular pick to win their division, and make a deep run in the playoffs, that hasn’t quite panned out, but a win against the Lions should lift their spirits some.
K: If the 49ers get to 8-8, they have to consider this season a success. Facing the Lions helps.
B: Expanding on what Chris said, I think a hammering of the Lions should lift their spirits some.

C: The Link is a tough place to play, especially with the Eagles this close to a division championship.
K: The Eagles still have a shot at a bye, and they’re at home. Denver just keeps losing games.
B: The Broncos are bleeding out, and the Eagles are playing great football.

C: The Jets are too inconsistent to beat the Colts, even if Manning sits for the second half.
K: This is the week the Colts fall. The Jets are still in it and really need a win.
B: I may regret this, but i’m going with the Jets as well. If the Colts are really serious about a perfect season, they’ll play everyone, but… I don’t see a smart football team doing that.

C: Even though Manning and the rest of the starters aren’t likely to play the entire game, I think they play enough to get the win over a division rival.
P: Colts may rest their hurt starters but manning will play. And when he plays the colts win.
K: The Colts won’t go 16-0, but they won’t lose to the over-rated Jaguars, either.
B: I can’t really pick against the Colts, expecting a defeat. Even half a game of Manning can take this game.

C: I got burned by these two teams last week, so I picked the Browns hoping for the best, even though it doesn’t matter since the Chiefs and Browns are a combined 5-21.
P: I’ve been picking the Chiefs the past couple of weeks so I continue to do so.
K: The Browns don’t have it all together, but Brady Quinn can make something happen against the Chiefs secondary.
B: This won’t be too interesting of a game, but I want to see if Quinn can take advantage of a weak pass D.
R: Kansas City has to look at the fact that winning at home once meant something.

Comments:

C: Yawn. After the game on Monday night, the Cardinals are lucky to get the Lions this week to start building some momentum going into the post-season.
P: The Cardinals are a better team.
K: Nothing the Lions can do will prevent last Sunday from happening again this week.
B: Arizona is going to use the Lions as a stepping stool, to warm up for the coming weeks.
R: Cards need someone to abuse after a crap game monday

C: I have to take the Jets, and their defense over Atlanta with Ryan out, and Turner questionable.
P: Both Teams have been playing and fighting hard. But I like Rex Ryans Defense in this game.
K: The Jets are still fighting for their division, and Thomas Jones will run wild on the Falcons weak run defense.
B: The Jets D is going to handle Atlanta fairly well, and they’re fighting hard for a playoff berth.
R: Jets ….

C: I find it terribly hard to pick against Chris Johnson against mediocre teams, but this week I think a lot will be riding on Vince Young, and whether or not he plays or sits.
P: The Dolphins are on the cusp of making the playoffs. Ricky Williams will be the Back to watch not Chris Johnson.
K: It’ll be close, but I refuse to bet against Chris Johnson.
B: The Titans have a good run D, and Young seems to be on track to at least play a half. And Collins wasn’t terrible last week, if he has to step in.
R: Watching a replay of the national title game …. Boy Vince Young could run.

C: New England hasn’t been the team that everyone expected them to be, but they are leading the division, and going into Buffalo, they need this win to keep ahead of the Jets and Dolphins.
P: To stay atop the division they need a win.

K: The 49ers have shown glimpses of being a dominant defense. This is a must-win for them.

C: After an embarrassing game in Green Bay the Ravens get a home game against the Lions, who aren’t as easy to beat as they have been, but the Ravens need this more.
P: The Ravens have been bad, but not as bad as the play of the Lions.
K: The Lions defense is too horrific to allow the Ravens to give this one away.
B: The Lions aren’t a strong team, and this is coming down to a must-win for the Ravens.
R: Baltimore still kicking themselves after a Monday night loss.

P: Both teams are average, but the Texans have more play makers.

C: With Minnesota firmly in control of the NFC North, and Green Bay in second place, they need a win to keep the pressure on Favre and the Vikings. Chicago on the other hand struggled against the Rams, need I say more?
P: Green Bay is a good team, Chicago isn’t quite there.
K: The Bears can play spoiler, and Lovie Smith always plays the Pack close.

C: I want to pick Jacksonville, because I think they have as good a chance as anyone to beat the Dolphins, but, I think the Dolphins are heating up at just the right time to make a serious push at the playoffs.
P: This will be a close game I think, it could go either way.
K: Miami is too close to their second straight division crown. They won’t blow it… yet.
B: Miami is not going to drop this one, they’re on a roll now. Garrard is no Brady.

C: Despite how well Cincy has played, I don’t think they have what it takes to stop the Vikings.
P: The Vikings need to play well now that they have 2 losses. If they want home field they need not to lose and anymore and they still might not get it.
K: There is no way this defense plays that poorly in back to back games. And Favre isn’t going into a slump, either.
B: Basically, what Kevin said. Minnesota should win this handily.

C: Just keeping pressure on the Patriots. The Jets shouldn’t have many problems putting the Bucs away.
P: This should be a close game, but the Jets Defense gets the win again today.
K: If Jets stick to the ground game, they win.
B: Shouldn’t be too much doubt in this game, but you never know…

C: Carolina is run heavy which should be a relief for a secondary that has been raped lately
P: If they lose they could not win the division.
K: I just can’t see the Patriots losing to a team led by Matt Moore or Jake Delhomme.
B: I’m going to do something that should be crazy, but sadly is not – i’m going with Carolina. The run attack will be strong even against the Pats, and I see a few long receptions for Steve Smith.

C: At some point Matt Cassel has to prove that he is worth that massive paycheck he received in the off season. A home game against the Bills should stack the deck in his favor.

K: As mediocre as I believe Denver is, they just can’t lose this game.
B: Denver should control this game, and i’m kind of expecting them to return to early-season form.

C: It took a last second miracle to beat the Cardinals, without Warner. The Colts>The Cards. Easy pick.
P: The Titans are hot Kevin,  and they have won 5 straight games, however the Colts have won 20 straight regular season games one game behind the record. And the last time these two teams played the Colts won 23-0 and that was at INDY when the Titans were really hot and only lost 3 games all season.
K: The Titans are hot and have won five straight. Colts have to lose sometime.
B: The Titans are rolling, and they finish games – rather than those that have almost won against the Colts. I believe that some team has to beat the Colts, and the Titans have a good shot.

C: The Jets are beatable… very beatable, and I fully expect the Panthers to hand them one more loss to put them out of the playoff hunt entirely.
P: Look for the Jets D to shut down Carolina.
K: I can’t wait to see how many interceptions Mark Sanchez throws against this pass defense.
B: Carolina has some work to do to improve, but the Jets aren’t a solid enough team to handle them.

C: Both teams lost in very close games last week (by 4 points combined), but one team has to win this week, and the better Bengals team gets my vote.

K: Cincy is too disciplined to play down to Cleveland’s level. The loss to Oakland was a fluke. Sort of.
B: The Bengals are going to need a pride win, and they should take this one handily.

P: Washington has been horrid. And the Eagles are explosive.

C: I can’t think of one way to justify picking the Rams to win this. Their defense is awful (29th overall) and their offense isn’t much better (26th).
P: The Rams let Steven Jackson Ram the Seahawks into the ground.
K: The Rams are playing competitive, but Seattle needs a win and are the slightly better team.
B: Hasselbeck exploited the Rams D last time out, he should be throwing it down this week.

C: MJD all day. I expect that Jones-Drew will top the 49ers average YPG allowed (94) on the way to a Jax win.
P: I bet this will be a tough game.
K: The Jags are over rated and the 49ers played hard at the end of their loss last week. They’ll take this one.
B: I think this could turn into a great game. Jags are working for the playoffs, and if their D can hold Gore a bit, I think that the Jags can pull out the win.

B: The Pats have a great pass defense, and NO doesn’t… This could be a shootout, though.
