NFL Wild Card Playoff and Award Predictions

leadpicAnd just like that the regular season is over. I was 12-4 last week and finished the regular season at 157-96-1 (62%) !

So, without further ado, here they are!

The Wild Card Round’s picks (winners in bold):

Atlanta at Arizona

Arizona has been pathetic of late, and barely escaped with a win over the Seahawks last week. I love the heart and tenacity of the Falcons over the perceived arrogance of the Cardinals.

Having grown up in North Georgia, it is nice to see my home town team doing well, especially after the debacle at the end of last season, and into the offseason.

Indianapolis at San Diego

A bit of a no brainer here. Despite their early struggles, Indy has won their last 9, and has the momentum to continue that streak all the way to the Super Bowl, as long as they don’t overlook the resurgent Chargers (have won their last 4 to win the AFC West).

Philadelphia at Minnesota

Tavaris Jackson/Gus Frerotte < Donovan McNabb

Adrian Peterson > Brian Westbrook

Based on that, and the fact that the Eagles have been less than stellar on the road (3-4-1), and Minnesota has been tough at home (6-2), I give Minnesota the edge in what should be the best game of the week

Baltimore at Miami

Miami barely scraped by in New York last week, and Baltimore’s stingy defense and explosive offense should be able to make the Dolphins pay for their mistakes.

Bye: New York Giants, Carolina, Tennessee, and Pittsburgh

The Awards

MVPMichael Turner (ATL) Peyton Manning (IND)

Offensive Player of the Year – Adrian Peterson (MIN)

Offensive Rookie of the YearMatt Ryan (ATL)

Defensive Player of the Year – James Harrison (PIT)

Defensive Rookie of the YearJerod Mayo (NE)

Coach of the YearTony Sparano (MIA) Mike Smith (ATL)

What do you think? Am I way off base with a pick (or two)? Let me know, by commenting below!
